SMRC held the first Canadian Symposium on Managing Toxicities of Emerging Cancer Therapies, CAN-TOX, with Dr. Khashayar Esfahani as scientific program chair.
The symposium brought together 150 in-person participants — 24 % from outside McGill — and close to 200 virtual participants, 41 % of them from outside Quebec, clearly answering a need in the cancer community. Feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, confirming the value of a symposium focused on the rapidly evolving field of novel cancer therapeutics.
The event was supported by the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation and the Edward W. Tinmouth Lectureship in Community Cancer Care. Planning for next year's edition is already under way.
