St. Mary's Research Centre is embedded within St. Mary's Hospital Centre, part of Santé Québec Ouest-de-l'Île-de-Montréal – Universitaire, and affiliated with McGill University.

Our clinical roots shape our scientific approach. Working alongside care teams and the people they support allows us to ask research questions that arise directly from the realities of care, and to help bring knowledge into practice.

We conduct cutting-edge research in service of our communities. Our commitment to equity and inclusion guides the design of solutions suited to the diversity of needs, experiences and paths of the people who make them up.

A message to our community

Welcome to the St. Mary Research Centre (CRSM)! Located in the heart of Côte-des-Neiges and part of St. Mary’s Hospital Center, we are deeply rooted in one of Montreal’s most diverse communities. This unique connection is at the core of our mission: to improve patient care through relevant research and active community engagement.

The communities we serve come from all walks of life, and we are committed to ensuring that our research reflects this diversity. Inclusive practices and intersectionality are embedded in everything we do, from the studies we conduct to the way we operate behind the scenes.

Proudly affiliated with McGill University, the CRSM brings together leading health researchers from across Canada. Our teams are advancing work in four key areas:

We believe that research must serve the community. That’s why we strive to meet the real needs of all our research partners by creating tailored solutions.

We are also proud to support the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). In doing so, we commit to implementing more effective and fairer methods for assessing research, using both qualitative and quantitative measures, and not relying solely on journal-based metrics.

Since my appointment as Scientific Director in 2021, I have seen our center become a hub of innovation and collaboration. Our progress would not be possible without the generous support of the St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation. Their partnership has played a crucial role in helping us reach new heights of achievement and gain access to better resources. I am extremely grateful to them for their ongoing support, which helps us bring our vision to life.
